“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.” (Mathew 23:13, ESV)
They complained that He healed on the wrong day; forgave the wrong people; hung out with the wrong crowd; and had the wrong influence on the children. But, still worse, every time He tried to set people free, the religious leaders attempted to tie them down. When a courageous soul turned to ‘freedom’ they were there to say it couldn’t be done. We can learn a lesson from the Pharisees. Do the opposite. Release people from the legalistic trappings of religion.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for including me. Thank you for taking me as I was.
