3 “For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long… 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.” (Psalm 32:3,5, ESV)
Man by himself cannot deal with his own guilt. He must have help from the outside. In order to forgive himself, he must have forgiveness from the one he has offended. Yet man is unworthy to ask God for forgiveness, except through the cross of Christ. Because of Christ, man is freed not only from the sin, but also the guilt from the sin. Jesus does the complete work. So if God forgives you, why can’t you forgive yourself?
Prayer: Lord, teach me to see myself as you see me.
