A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs 15:1, ESV)
Delivery is so important in communication. Do you want someone to really hear you? Let them know you are disappointed, that they have come short of the standard but do it so they will listen. If not, you will create a wall of defensiveness between you and them, and now they only hear loud words – not instructive correction.
