13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. (James 1:13-14, ESV)
There is an expression that has been around a long time that says, “The devil made me do it.” At its core, living by this statement allows a person to excuse their behavior by blaming someone else, even a greater power. God puts a hole in this thought process by explaining that our temptations come from within us, our desire run amuck. The question that is left us, is what are we doing with those desires? Acting on them? Or keeping them under control?
Prayer: Lord, teach me to discipline myself that you will be glorified by my life.
