There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. (1 John 4:18, ESV)
How many times did we hear as a child, “wait ‘til your father gets home!”? That phrase always brought fear! Why? Because fear has to do with punishment and we knew that when dad got home, man were we going to get it! Guess what? There is no fear now that God is our Heavenly Father. Now when we hear “Wait till your Father gets home” we can forget fear and look forward gladly to seeing the one who casts out fear with perfect love.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for loving me. Teach me to love you.
