5 August

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. (Psalm 40:1, ESV)

The most common expression in the Army is, “Hurry up and wait.” We are very accustomed to waiting for the next mission, the next order, meals, latrines, showers, etc. Yet, we sometimes get so impatient with the Lord. We want our prayers answered yesterday and exactly to our specifications. Perhaps we need to just wait and see how the Lord is going to work out that situation. He may surprise us and do a better job of fixing things than our idea.

Prayer: Lord, I can “hurry up and wait” for You.
