22 October

But this command I gave them: ‘Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’ (Jeremiah 7:23, ESV)

As Soldiers, we are trained to obey the orders given by our superiors. When we obey those orders, things can go rather well for us. We don’t have somebody breathing down our necks all the time. But if we disobey a direct order, the consequences can be quite harsh. This is even more real when it comes to the orders from God. He gives commands for our benefit, expecting that we’ll obey. When we don’t, it is painful to us and to Him.

Prayer: Lord, teach me what it is to submit to your will and not my own.
