Daily Devotional

19 January

“And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”” (Luke 23:43, ESV)

Just trying to picture the scene is enough to short circuit the most fanciful of imaginations; a flat nosed ex-con, convicted of a felony, asking God for eternal life? But trying to imagine the appeal being honored, well, that steps beyond the real of reality and enters absurdity. As absurd as it may appear, that’s exactly what happened. He who deserved hell got heaven. That is the beauty of what God did for man. It is for criminals and good people alike.

Prayer: Lord, only by your grace may we enter your presence.
