Daily Devotion

20 August

10  “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10-11, ESV)

Ever afraid of sharing God’s Word with someone because you are afraid of not being able to answer all their questions? God promises that He will bless His word as it is spread abroad. He does not expect us to have all the answers, only the willingness to go and to speak His truth.

Prayer: Lord, I trust that Your words and truth are more powerful than my fear.

Take a look at 1 Cor 1:20-25. The wisdom of God is foolishness to those who do not believe. We are to be careful that we speak candidly and truthfully, and when we do, let every word be filled and covered with grace and love (Eph 4:15). The gospel is for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness (2Tim 3:16-17). Sometimes that hurts and is hard to hear, but what is the motivation behind the words? Let it be grace and love.
