Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! (Psalm 141:3, ESV)
Insensitive comments; thoughts that should have remained thoughts; feelings which had no business being expressed are all mistakes we make. He who dares call himself God’s ambassador is not afforded the luxury of idle words. Excuses such as, “I didn’t know you were here,” or, “I didn’t realize you were so touchy,” are shallow when they come from those who claim to be followers and imitators of the Great Physician. Use your words for healing, not for destruction.
Prayer: Lord, every word that comes from my mouth are yours.
