Life is full of twists and turns and there are welcome and unwelcome surprises at every twist and turn of life. May Allah , save us from trials and tribulations, but one should not despair when one confronts difficulties and challenges in life. Indeed! More often than not, even trials and tribulations are a source of knowledge, strength, and rewards from Allah if we continue to seek His mercy and guidance. Islam provides us with guidance for each and every aspect of life, and it definitely provides the seeker with the armor of Islamic duas for every occasion.

The twenty-first century was supposed to bring ease for humanity; lessening the day to day burdens by making things easier to accomplish. But, maybe the more one can get done with efficient gadgets just brings in more work to be done in the time saved. Whatever the cause, whether it is related to work, home, family, children, friends, or some personal reasons, whether it develops slowly, or all of a sudden, one can come face to face with the darkness of confusion, anxiety, dismay, depression, distress, frustration and pessimism at any time in life.

The Islamic way to remove anxiety and depression is to seek the countenance of the Lord of the worlds, because Allah has stated in the Quran that all ease and all difficulty are from Him, and only He can remove difficulties and give ease. Indeed! Only He has power over all affairs and each and every thing in the universe.

What could be a better balm for a suffering heart and healers of anxiety and sorrow for a Muslim than the following seven Islamic Duas, some of which have been recommended by the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, himself:

English Translation

‘O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant, my forelock is in Your hand (i.e. You have total mastery over me), Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety.’

English Translation

‘O Allah, I take refuge in you from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.’

لَاإلَهَإِلَّااللَّهُالْعَظـيمُالْحَلِـيمْ،لَاإِلَهَإِلَّااللَّهُرَبُّالعَـرْشِالعَظِيـمِ،لَاإِلَـهَإِلَّااللَّهْرَبُّالسَّمَـوّاتِورّبُّالأَرْضِورَبُّالعَرْشِالكَـريم .

English Translation

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah Forbearing. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the magnificent throne. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the Earth and Lord of the noble throne.’

English Translation

“O Allah, there is no ease except in that which you have made easy, and you make the difficulty, if you wish, easy.”

English Translation

‘O Allah, it is your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except you.’

English Translation

None has the right to be worshipped except You, How perfect you are; Verily I was among the wrong-doers

اللهُ اللهُ رَبِّ لا أُشْـرِكُ بِهِ شَيْـئاً.
